Morelli, Jacopo
He was born in Venice from Swiss parents. He studied with the Dominicans of the Gesuati (Venice, Zattere). He embraced the priesthood and devoted himself to be a scholar and a bibliophile. From 1778 up to his death he was the intelligent and zealous librarian of the Marciana Library who increased the library collections due to the suppression of religious orders and their libraries.
