Canon of Christ Church, Oxford 1648-50 and 1659, Laudian professor of Arabic, Oxford 1636-48, regius professor of Hebrew, Oxford 1648-51 (ejected) and 1660-91; Pococke gave the University 420 Oriental manuscripts in 1693; in 1822, by the bequest of Revd Charles Francis, q.v., came a portion of Pococke's printed books; these have written in them in the hand of P.
