Count Silva, of Milan; naturalist, who founded a botanical garden near Milan; see IBI IV 1279; oval armorial book stamp, lettered: `Comes Donatus Silva', see Gelli, no. 1; Bragaglia T-30, who dates the book-plate to c.1715; Paul Needham, in his `Index Possessorum', notes that three of Silva's Italian incunables are now in the British Library, with others in Wadham College, Oxford (Rhodes 1377b), Harvard University Library (Walsh 617, 3028), and the Library of Congress; Catalogue of the John Boyd Thacher Collection of Incunabula, compiled by Frederick W. Ashley (Washington DC, 1915), no. 481.
