Size of leaf: 212 × 144 mm.

On [a1r], l. 2: ‘ . . . deum', like GW, but unlike BMC; on [c8v], l. 2 of colophon: ‘ . . . Joh'', like BMC, unlike GW.

On [a1r] of item 1, manuscript table of contents in a contemporary hand, probably that of Gerardus K. On [a3v], [a7v], and [b7v] additions have been made in spaces in the text, in black ink in a contemporary hand. On [b4v] part of the text has been erased and corrections made in black ink. The name ‘Johannes Gerson' in the colophon has been deleted and replaced in a sixteenth-century hand by ‘Jo. Gerson hic frequenter citatur'. The gatherings of items 2–3b are signed signed consecutively in early black ink; items 4-8 are signed in red ink, nos 5-8 consecutively.

Throughout the volume one-, three-, four-, and six-line initials are supplied in red or blue; some with Cologne-style reserved white decoration. Paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue. Underlining and initial strokes in red. Rubric titles supplied in red.

Provenance: Gerardus K. of Deventer (fifteenth/sixteenth century), pastor in Kalkar: ‘Gerardus K. Dauentriensis Pastor in Calkar': partially deleted inscription. Probably the copy purchased for £10. 10. 0; see Books Purchased (1824), 2: ‘Augustinus (S.) De singularitate clericorum. Coloniæ ap. Udalr. Zell. 1467. acc. tractatus varii. Sine loco et anno, sed impressi per eundem typographum. 4to.'; information probably derived from colophon of item 6.

On [a1r], l. 3 '... deuw', as BMC; [c8v], l. 2 of colophon, 'Joh'', also as BMC.

Binding: Eighteenth/nineteenth-century quarter red leather with marbled paper boards, and with spine gold-tooled with the title of the work.

Size: 226 × 149 × 10 mm. Size of leaf: 215 × 140 mm.

Formerly part of a Sammelband: early foliation numbers in black ink, 95-122. Pointing hand on [a2v], early annotations and 'nota' mark on [a4r], and underlining on [c8v], all in black ink.

Throughout, one-, three-, four-, and six-line initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red; underlining and capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Campbell Library; 'L 4 Campbell' on front pastedown; undated note, signed by Peter Levi, SJ (1931-2000); according to note, the book was left by him with Dr David Rogers, presumably for identification. Date of deposit unknown, probably between about 1950 and 1977 (when Levi left the Jesuits); found on David Rogers's desk, Feb. 1995.
