On [g1r] a deleted part of printed text has been added in manuscript in black ink.

Binding: German (Augsburg, Kyriß workshop no. 74) blind-tooled calf over wooden boards. Five bosses on each cover lost. Catch and clasp lost. On each cover, fillets form three concentric frames, within the outer one a heart-shaped palmette stamp, Kyriß pl. 149, no. 2, separated by an acorn stamp, and a stamp of a stylized tree, Kyriß pl. 149, no. 6. Within the middle frame is a circular rosette stamp, Kyriß pl. 149, no. 5, and within the inner frame are evangelist stamps of a man (St Matthew), a lion (St Mark), and an ox (St Luke). In the inner rectangle is a small star-shaped stamp containing a cross, Kyriß pl. 149, no. 3, and a small floral stamp. Rebound using parts of old binding.

Size: 273 × 200 × 45 mm.

Size of leaf: 262 × 181 mm.

Some initials are supplied in red with reserved white decoration. Paragraph marks are supplied in red. Three-line printed initials are coloured in red. Capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Donauwörth, Bavaria, Benedictines, S. Crux; inscription in upper margin of [a2r]: ‘Monasterii S. Crucis Werdeæ Sueuorum'. Munich, Theatine convent; armorial book-plate: see Warnecke 1410. Probably a duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; shelfmark ‘Inc. Typ. No. 2336' on slip attached inside the upper cover. Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex (1773-1843); book-plate with handwritten shelfmark ‘AA.d.5*': see Lee, Royal Bookplates, 41, no. 24; sale, pt I, lot 499. Table of contents on [a1r] in black ink in a contemporary hand. Names of evangelists as marginal ‘notae', in red, in one contemporary hand, with the name of the evangelist underlined in red in the text. Offset names of evangelists indicate that these notes were made while the book was still in sheets.
