Here the shorter version, chapters 1-24 only, with extra final phrase added ‘ . . . et in eum perseuerem usque in finem uitae meae.’

Binding: Nineteenth-century faded gold-tooled red morocco; on both covers double fillets form a border with rosettes in the corners; gilt foliage and floral roll on the turn-ins; blue-black pastedowns; gilt-edged leaves; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. Thorpe's catalogue attributes the binding to Lewis [Charles Lewis (1786-1836)].
