Provenance: Possibly Maffeo Pinelli (1735-1785); not found in Morelli (1787) nor in sale (1789), p. 300; an annotation in Wodhull's hand: ‘Pinelli Appendix'; in the Appendix to the Pinelli sale no. 128 is described as ‘Plinii Secundi liber Illustrium virorum, Venetiis, MCCCCLXXXVIII, 4to'; as no 1488 edition has been traced, this entry may refer to the present item. Michael Wodhull (1740-1816); on recto of front endleaf, note signed ‘M. Wodhull', and dated 26 Feb. 1790, giving price of book as £0. 1. 0, and cost of rebinding as £0. 3. 0.
