Wanting the blank leaves [a1] and [z1].

Gathering [z] bound first.

Binding: Sixteenth-century German/Swiss(?) blind-tooled pigskin over pasteboards; two leather ties. Letter-stamping (`B.(?) A. I. A.') at the head of the upper cover. On both covers fillets form a triple frame; the inner rectangle is divided by fillets into three compartments. In the compartments six different rolls: a crocketed cresting, a double set of intersecting wavy lines, a Renaissance floral ornament, a floral ornament with medallions depicting male heads, a series of half-figures of St Peter and Christ(?) with the inscriptions ‘Apparvit bene', ‘Dv est Petrvs', ‘Data . . .', ‘Ecce angnvs Dei', and a small floral ornament.

Size: 387 × 275 × 60 mm.

Size of leaf: 376 × 247 mm.

On [z4r] a table of contents in an early hand; early running headings.

Some principal initials are supplied in red with reserved white decoration or blue with pen-work infill in red. Occasional chapter headings are supplied in red; initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red throughout; red capital strokes and underlining.
