Binding: Contemporary German blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, two clasps lost. Book-label at the head of the upper cover, partly removed. On the upper cover triple fillets form a triple frame, the inner one with mitred corners; the inner rectangle is divided by vertical fillets into three compartments. In the outer frame are two different stamps: an eight-petalled flower in the corners, a rectangular stamp with a foliate ornament in the compartments. In the middle frame, six different stamps: in the corners, a round stamp depicting St Matthew the evangelist, in the compartments, a tear-drop-shaped stamp with an oak branch, a scroll with the inscription ‘Aue Maria', a foliate ornament, a round stamp with a crowned ‘M', and the eight-petalled flower. In the inner frame, rows of a rectangular stamp with a dragon and the oak-branch stamp. In the inner compartments, the ‘Aue Maria' scroll is repeated on the left and right; the central compartment is filled with the foliate ornament. Minute rosette and leaf stamps all over. On the lower cover triple fillets form a frame; the inner rectangle is divided by diagonal fillets into lozenge-shaped compartments. In the frame, the same stamps as in the middle frame on the upper cover with exception of the crowned ‘M' and the eight-petalled flower. In the compartments, the oak-branch stamp, the foliate ornament. For an almost identical binding see B‑098 (Auct. 3Q inf. 2.20).
