Binding: Eighteenth-century French mottled calf, possibly by Richard Weir for Justin, comte MacCarthy Reagh, given the Toulouse provenance, with gold-tooled spine with a flower and thistle tool in a lozenge made up of minute circles, crosses, and rosettes; on the turn-ins a roll of thistles; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers.

Size: 290 × 208 × 90 mm.

Size of leaf: 281 × 192 mm.

Pointing hands and some marginal notes in black ink. Manuscript foliation in black ink. On a1r a manuscript verse, in Italian, in an early hand, giving advice for avoiding the plague; incipit: ‘Al male percusivo e pestilente'. On a1v a table in a seventeenth-century hand, listing the books of the Bible with the number of the folio where they begin.

On a2r a thirteen-line initial ‘F' and on a4v a sixteen-line initial ‘I', are both supplied in blue, with infill, decoration, and extensions into the margins, in red. Other initials are supplied in red, some with reserved white decoration, some being decorated with yellow infill. Some capital strokes in red, other capitals touched with yellow wash. Inscription on 187v in same yellow colour as decorative infill of capitals: ‘Finita est ista bibia miniandi per uenerabilem uirum dominum Stephanum de Pir[ ]s archiepresbyterum de Uignola et per me dominum Gulielmum de Marachys rectorem sancti Christofori pentrio(?) 1479 die xxi maii'.
