Occasional marginal annotations. On a1v: ‘Tabula librorum Bibliæ', in a sixteenth-century hand.
On a2r a contemporary, probably French, fifteen-line initial ‘F' is supplied in red and gold, surrounded by a branch border, historiated with a seated figure of Jerome, on the left, dressed in gold, white with blue sleeves, and holding a book, with a lion at his feet, looking back at him. Behind Jerome is a background of blue, decorated with gold floral patterns; behind the lion, in front of two windows, is a lectern; through the left window gold rays of the sun shine onto Jerome; in the right window, a view of a city. To the right of the lion is a small golden table. On A1v an eight-line initial ‘P' is supplied in gold, with the stem in the form of a tree, and the lobe a beaked and winged creature, on a blue ground decorated with gold and edged in black, and with gold floral infill on a red ground. Other initials are supplied in red or blue, or interlocked red and blue. Paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue. Capitals touched with yellow wash. Pen-work border is supplied in red. Foliation in faded black ink. Both columns of text framed with double red rules.

Binding: Seventeenth/eighteenth-century gold-tooled panelled calf; ‘Cambridge style'; a fern-tip roll forms a border within which is a sprinkled panel; a chain-roll forms a frame with floral tools at the corners, within which a tree calf panel; a cresting floral roll forms a frame within which an inner rectangular panel of sprinkled calf; marbled pastedowns and gilt-edged leaves. Rebacked.
