Giovanni a Carbonara). ‘Liber manualis ac introductorius in Biblie historias figurasque Ueteris ac Noui Testamenti peroptimus, Aurea Biblia vocitatus'. Incipit: ‘[R]eligiosis atque honestis viris in Christo dilectis fratribus studentibus Neapolim(!) conuentus ordinis fratrum heremitarum sancti Augustini, frater Antonius Ampigollus(!) . . .’ See B‑345A.

Abstinentia est meriti augmentantiua(!), sapientie acquisitiua, religiositatis ostensiua . . .’ Incipit: ‘[A]bstinentia primo est meriti augmentatiua, auget enim merita et virtutes. Ideo voluit dominus parentes nostros . . .’ On the authorship see B‑345A. The title ‘Aurea Biblia' is recorded in the explicit on [p7r].

Manuscript title in black ink is supplied in a sixteenth-century German hand on [*1r]. A few marginal notes in red or black ink in the same hand, extracting key words and making one correction. A few notes in a later German hand. Bibliographical notes by Niesert on the verso of the front endleaf.

Initials and pilcrows coloured, and capital strokes and underlining are supplied in red.

Provenance: Joseph Niesert (1766-1841); ‘Bibliothecae J. Niesert pastoris in Velen 1819' on [*1r], with the date of purchase below the bibliographical note on the verso of the front endleaf: ‘Ex auctione publ. librorum 1819 Lipsiæ habita stetit 3 imperiali'; purchased at his sale (1843), lot 13744 (dated as 1479) for £1. 0. 0; see Books Purchased (1843), 42.
