Binding: Eighteenth-century French, by Nicolas-Denis Derome; gold-tooled green morocco; triple fillets with rose stamp in the centre; six-panel spine with a small classical ornament; date on spine; red silk pastedowns, gilt-edged leaves. Bound between 1785 and 1789; label on verso of front endleaf; endleaves watermarked 1789?; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers; see Barber, ‘Baroque to Neoclassicism', no. 36.

Size: 295 × 207 × 16 mm.

Size of leaf: 287 × 194 mm.

Epigraphic initials are supplied in gold. Pen-work borders are supplied in red ink. Some letters touched in gold. The text enclosed in eighteenth-century pink rules, probably by Derome.
