Binding: Contemporary German (Kyriß workshop no. 154) blind-tooled pigskin over wooden boards, five bosses on the upper cover, four bosses on the lower cover, and two clasps lost. Book-label at the head of the upper cover. On both covers fillets form a frame; the inner rectangle is divided by diagonal fillets into four triangular compartments. In the compartments a rosette with fillets emanating from it; along the diagonal fillets, headed-outline tools. For the stamps see Kyriß pl. 309, nos 1, 11. Title on lower edge. Manuscript fragments used as reinforcing strips. Printed Tegernsee shelfmark-label ‘L.68.2°' on the upper cover. Printed label with no. ‘255' on spine.

On [*1r] a manuscript list of contents in the hand of Ambrosius Schwerzenbeck, librarian of Tegernsee (fl. 1483/4-1494): ‘Contenta huius libri: Vocabularium Archonium. Tractatus de modo epistolandi Benczeslai Brack. Libri Hugonis de sancto Victore in Dydascolicon. Liber Cyceronis de proprietatibus terminorum quo ad d[ifferenti]as in modo significandi' (last item extracted). ‘No. 34' written on the front pastedown.

Principal initials are supplied in red with pen-flourishing; other initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red; red capital strokes and underlining.

Provenance: Wolfgangus Foerster (fifteenth century); name on [*1r] in red, crossed out. Heinrich Küntzner (†1544); given by him to Tegernsee, Bavaria, Benedictines, S. Quirinus; on [*1r] note by Schwerzenbeck: ‘Hunc librum obtulit Deo et sancto Quirino martyri Patrono nostro in Tegernsee frater Heinricus Künczner de Kophstaÿn Hic professus Anno domini 1491 in die Ascensionis domini'. ‘Duplum quorum I et II' on front pastedown. No. ‘5052' on [*1r]. Purchased from Albert Cohn, Catalogue 160, no. 419, for 12 Marks; see Library Bills, 26 May 1884.
