[2a1r] [Rubrica generalis.] Incipit: ‘[Q]uando per A. aduentus Domini inchoatur . . .’

[3a1r] [Psalterium.] Incipit: ‘In dominicis diebus ad matutinas. Inuitatorium. Adoremus Dominum qui fecit nos . . .’

[4a1r] [Proprium de tempore. Pars hiemalis.] Incipit: ‘Ad mandatum reuerendissimi patris et principis illustris domini Ruperti . . . Dominica prima aduentus Domini. Ad vesperas. Capitulum. ‘[E]cce dies uenient, dicit Dominus . . .’ [In vigilia Penthecostes] Missam autem pro defunctis qui vult privatim celebret. Sequitur de sanctis.’ The edition is stated to have been commissioned by Rupprecht, Duke of Bavaria, Bishop of Strasbourg. This appears to be a conflation of two Bishops of Strasbourg: Ruprecht von Pfalz-Simmern, Bishop (1440-78), and Albrecht von Bayern, Pfalzgraf bei Rhein, Bishop of Strasbourg (1479-1506).

Remarks: BMC ascribes to [Speier: Georgius de Spira]. Printed in type 4 of the editions ascribed by Ohly to Georg Reyser. Section 2 belongs to the Directorium Argentinense (GW 8437).

Pars hiemalis. Proprium de tempore, Proprium de sanctis, and part of Commune sanctorum only. Wanting the blank leaf [3 f6].

Binding: Nineteenth-century English (London) brown tooled morocco, with gilt-edged leaves; bound by Francis Bedford and John Clarke, between 1841 and 1850.

Size: 295 × 215 × 36 mm.

Size of leaf: 284 × 190 mm.

On [1 a1r] a six-line initial ‘E' is supplied in interlocked red and blue, with red pen-work infill, decoration, and extensions into the inner margin. Other initials, some with extensions into the margins, are supplied in red or blue. Capital strokes in red. Some running titles are supplied in black ink in a seventeenth/eighteenth-century hand.
