Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd (1795-1854); on front pastedown a note signed by P. Toynbee: ‘From Judge Talfourd's library 8/-'. Paget Jackson Toynbee (1855-1932). Donated to the Bodleian Library between 1912 and 1923.

Binding: Eighteenth-century French gold-tooled red morocco; marbled pastedowns and gilt-edged leaves; triple fillets form a border with a small floral stamp at each corner.

Size: 200 × 140 × 15 mm.

Size of leaf: 192 × 127 mm.

Some faint early notes, possibly washed out.

Initials supplied and underlining in red; red capital strokes, all in gatherings b and c only.

Provenance: Jean Joseph Rive (1730-1791/2); manuscript note on title-page ‘faite et ecrite par l'abbé Rive'. Book-plate removed from upper pastedown. Purchased for £2. 2. 0; see Books Purchased (1845), 6.
