Wanting leaves [D2-9], [K4-7], and the blank leaf [L10]. [D2-9] are replaced by 12 manuscript leaves, the first five leaves and the first few lines of leaf six in a neat humanist book-hand with some cursive features, the last leaves in a humanist cursive hand, possibly the same scribe using two different styles. [K4-7] are replaced by six manuscript leaves; the first half-line of which is written in a Gothic cursive hand, the rest in a Gothic book-hand, probably not written by the same scribe or scribes who wrote the replacement of [D2-9]. The paper of the two replaced sections differs both from the paper of the printed parts and from one another.
Binding: Contemporary Italian(?) half sheep over wooden boards, the sheep pinned to the boards with three nails on each cover and with one nail each on the edge of the boards; one central clasp hinged from the upper to the lower cover; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers.
Size: 240 × 165 × 80 mm.
Size of leaf: 225 × 158 mm.
Copious early marginal notes in several different hands, drawing out the structure of the text, repeating central words and authors quoted, and supplementing the text. One of the hands found in the margin possibly also wrote at least part of the manuscript replacement for gathering D and marginal notes in gathering D. On first front endleaf: ‘De Maria Magdalena'; incipit: ‘Miratur homo quod cognouerit se ipsam cum peccator sit cecus . . .' On second front endleaf a quaestio, incipit: ‘Utrum attentio sit necessaria in oratione responde secundum Thomam 22.9.83 mr. 43, quod questio precipuum habet locum . . .’
Provenance: On front pastedown an early incription: ‘adi 6 di magio da fr° di antonio di broni(?) [ ] diorgio'. Cesena, Franciscans(?); inscription on second front endleaf: ‘Con[uen]tus d[e] Cesena'. Acquired by 1674; see Hyde, Catalogus (1674), I 405, s. v. Litio.
