Binding: Contemporary German (Erfurt: monastery of SS. Petrus et Paulus; Schwenke–Schunke–Rabenau 85-7: period VI (1500-1520)) blind-tooled pigskin over bevelled wooden boards, two metal catches; clasps lost. Title-label at the head of the upper cover with old shelfmark ‘C XLVII'. On the upper cover fillets form a double frame; the inner rectangle is divided by diagonal fillets into triangular and lozenge-shaped compartments. In the frame a fleur-de-lis stamp (Schwenke–Schunke 177 no. 248) and a floral stamp (Schwenke–Schunke 71 no. 30), in the corners a lozenge-shaped stamp with a cross. In the compartments the floral stamp, a smaller flower, a small fleur-de-lis, and a lozenge-shaped floral stamp. On the lower cover fillets form a double frame; the inner rectangle is divided by two sets of diagonal fillets into a large saltire and four triangular compartments. Between the frames, two vertical borders formed by the lozenge-shaped stamp with a cross; in the upper section, a rectangular stamp with a monkey (Schwenke–Schunke 21 no. 13), in the lower section, a rectangular stamp with an eagle (Schwenke–Schunke 3 no. 73). In the compartments of the saltire, the large and small floral stamps; in the triangular compartments, the small fleur-de-lis stamp and an almond-shaped stamp with two birds above a fleur-de-lis (Schwenke–Schunke 310 no. 42).
