Wanting1 a1,2 a1, Q1.8, ee3, 4.

Leaves a8, dd7, 8, and ee1, 2 are slightly defective. Leaves in gatherings1 a, o–ee overlaid with vegetal tissue and strengthened. A duplicate of e1 bearing the printed signature (absent in the other) supplied from a smaller copy.

Binding: Nineteenth-century calf, with the old calf covers inlaid.

Size: 270 × 200 × 70 mm.

Size of leaf: 260 × 185 mm.

A few early marginal notes. Scribbles on e1v.

In gatherings2 a-k initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red.

Provenance: On e1v: ‘ . . . smyt ped to robard(?) smyt . . . wylyams . . .' On p4r: ‘Johan . . .' Mr Blechydon (seventeenth century). Thomas Lee (fl. 1697?); on front endleaf ‘Thomas [Lee], Darnhall, [ne]ar Over, Cheshire. Found in my desk which I bought at late Mr. Blechydon's day of sale, Middlewich'. Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate. Bequeathed in 1834.

Wanting a1-4, 9, 10, A1-3, D2, E6, 8, I8, K8, S1, V2, Y8, Z8, [et]3, bb3 –ee4. Leaf E7 bound after I7. A duplicate of sheet V3 is bound in place of sheet V2.

Many leaves overlaid with vegetal tissue and strengthened.

Binding: Modern calf, with the eighteenth-century calf covers inlaid.
