Leaf a2 signed ai, a3 aii, etc.

Binding: Seventeenth/eighteenth-century diced russia. Each cover is decorated with a single gold fillet, with four gold-tooled floral corner-pieces, with a dolphin beneath a crown and small stars, and the spine decorated with gold floral and ornamental tools.

Size: 286 × 213 × 37 mm.

Size of leaf: 280 × 197 mm.

Early marginal and interlinear notes on leaves a2-3, mainly providing synonyms.

Provenance: A Catalogue of a Very Extensive and Curious Collection of Books . . . (London: Thomas Payne, 1788), no. 724. Acquired by Michael Wodhull (1740-1816) in 1788, at Payne's sale; see notes on front endleaf, apparently by Wodhull: ‘Payne's sale, Feb. 22d. 1788 £3. 3. =.'; not found in Wodhull's sales in 1801 or 1803.
