Binding: Eighteenth-century French red morocco with gold-tooled spine, decorated with a floral stamp, surrounded by four small stars and two small circles; with turn-ins of alternate zig-zag lines and fern tips; marbled pastedowns; gilt-edged leaves.

Size: 281 × 197 × 40 mm.

Size of leaf: 273 × 180 mm.

Some early marginal notes, and corrections to the text, over erasures. Pen-trials on y7r. Manuscript note by Richard Heber on verso of front endleaf.

On [a1r] a six-line epigraphic initial ‘E' is supplied in gold surrounded by white vine-stems, defined in blue, green, and red, with white dots; in the margin a blue, green, red, and gold staff defined in red, blue, and green, with white dots and with white vine-stem decoration at each end; see Pächt and Alexander II, 111 no. pr. 79. In lower margin, a green wreath containing a blank shield edged in red, and decorated in gold. Other epigraphic initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue.
