Binding: English (London) eighteenth-century (c.1790) red morocco for the Bodleian Library, probably by H. Walther; single gilt fillets on both covers and on the spine; Greek key roll on the turn-ins; marbled pastedowns; gilt-edged leaves; the gold stamp of the Library on both covers.

Size of leaf: 272 × 190 mm.

Early marginal notes, especially towards the end, extracting key phrases.

On [a2r] a six-line initial is supplied in gold on a ground of blue and olive green; the area defined by the letter is divided into a red and a green section straddled by a crude silver foliate(?) ornament; white and silver dots; a paragraph mark is supplied in red.

Provenance: Pietro-Antonio Bolongaro-Crevenna (1735-1792); sale (1789), part II lot 1539, pencil no. on [l6v]; in the annotated catalogue marked down to Payne for Fl. 75. Purchased through Payne for £6. 11. 0; see Books Purchased (1790), 6.
