Leaf [a1r] contains a setting up of the beginning of the text different from that on [a2r], and was probably intended to be cancelled (see BMC note). Sheets [k3.6] and k4.5] have changed places in binding.

Binding: Parchment; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers.

Size: 286 × 211 × 29 mm.

Size of leaf: 278 × 203 mm.

A few early marginal notes, mainly extracting key passages; one long marginal note on the second Punic War on [a8r]; some interlinear synonyms in the first part of the book.

On [a2r] a four-line initial is supplied in green, with red pen-work, within a red pen-work border, with extensions into the inner margin. Other initials are supplied in red, blue, or blue edged with red. Paragraph marks, rubrics, and marginal titles are supplied in red or, in the later sections, in yellow. Book numbers for De officiis are supplied in upper margin in black ink, also initial letters for other books.

Provenance: Unidentified religious house; inscription on [a1r]: ‘Nouitiorum sancti spiritus . . . [erasure]'. Purchased for £2. 17. 0; see Books Purchased (1822), 3.
