Provenance: Rome, Biblioteca Corsiniana ‘vetus'; stamp on a1r. Albergotti family (eighteenth century); inscription on verso of front endleaf: ‘Albergotti'. Dimitrij Petrovich, Count Boutourlin (1763-1829); armorial book-plate; shelfmark no. 549 (erroneously entered as 550 in the book and later corrected), see Catalogue (1831); sale (1841), lot 1653. Purchased for £0. 15. 0; see Books Purchased (1842), 16.

Binding: Nineteenth-century blind-tooled calf, imitating an earlier style; the edges are now coloured magenta; along the fore-edge can still be seen the earlier inscription of ‘AV GELLIUS', repeated; the two items were probably not bound together before the edges were coloured.
