Binding: Much worn contemporary German blind-tooled leather over wooden boards; metal bosses along the edges of both covers; one centre-piece and four corner-pieces on each cover and two clasps lost. Contemporary manuscript title on a rectangular paper label at head of upper cover. Seventeenth-century manuscript title on a square paper label at head of the spine. On both covers fillets form a frame subdivided into triangular compartments by fillets forming a saltire.

Size: 420 × 290 × 80 mm.

Size of leaf: 400 × 275 mm.

Fragments from a twelfth-century manuscript on parchment used as reinforcing pieces for the spine.

A few early marginal notes.

Woodcut initial on [a3r] coloured in green, red, blue, and yellow; principal initials are supplied in the same palette; other initials, foliation, and paragraph marks are supplied in red; red capital strokes and underlining.

Provenance: Duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; old shelfmark ‘Inc. typ. Nro 744' and ‘Duplum' on front pastedown. Acquired between 1847 and c.1892, possibly in 1850; not in Catalogus (1843) with Appendix.
