Binding: Contemporary blind-tooled quarter calf over wooden boards; both catches lost, but remains of two clasps on the lower cover. On both covers triple fillets form a rectangular compartment. On the upper cover it is divided by further triple fillets into three, and decorated with a floral and cresting roll, a repeated ornamental stamp, and a repeated palmette stamp; on the lower cover the compartment is divided into two, and decorated with a repeated large rosette stamp, and with the floral and cresting roll; the spine is decorated with the rosette stamp. The upper board is cracked down the middle, and is very loose.

Size: 307 × 215 × 39 mm.

Size of leaf: 301 × 207 mm.

Two- to six-line initials, some with extensions into the margins, and paragraph marks are supplied in red; capital strokes and underlining in red.

Provenance: Martinus, 1536; inscription on front pastedown in red ink: ‘Martinus [ ] me collegit sibi et suis emit ordinauitque anno MDxxxvi mense Martio'. Michael Lattner; heavily cancelled inscription on a1r: ‘Michael Lattner, cooperator ad Spiritum S. Monachii'. Paulus Kleindinst(?); heavily cancelled inscription on a1r: ‘Ex libris [ ] Pauli Kleindinst(?)'. Schrobenhausen, Bavaria, Francisans; cancelled inscription on a1r: ‘Ad usum Fratrum Minorum S. Francisci Schrobenhusanorum'; upper and lower edges stamped ‘FS'. Schleißheim, Bavaria, Franciscans; inscription on a1r: ‘Ad Franciscanos Schleishamii bibliotheca'. Duplicate from Royal Library, Munich; ‘Duplum' on recto of front endleaf. Sheppard records that this item was purchased in 1893 from Caspar Haugg, although no bills from Haugg have been found for 1893.
