Leaves [a5 -b1] and [y8] are supplied from another copy. Many leaves damaged and repaired.

Binding: Nineteenth-century German half calf; marbled paper boards. Spine badly damaged; both boards detached.

Size: 279 × 202 × 54 mm.

Size of leaf: 269 × 195 mm.

Early marginal annotations, some in German.

Woodcuts coloured in green, blue, yellow, and red.

Provenance: Cancelled ownership inscription on [a5r]. Johannes Seiffert (sixteenth/seventeenth century); inscription on [a5r]: ‘Joannes Seiffert Dr [ ]'. Heidenfeld, near Schweinfurt, Bavaria, Augustinian Canons; inscription on [a5r]: ‘Canoniæ Heydenfeld anno 90'. These two inscriptions relate only to the leaves [a5 -b1]. C[arl] Ph[ilipp] F[riedrich] von Martius (1794-1868); book-plate. Sold for £240 at Sotheby's in 1955. Roy Vernon Sowers (1897-1970). Bequeathed in 1970; book-plate.
