Binding: Eighteenth/nineteenth-century half calf; marbled paper boards. Faint scar of an index tab on [d9].

Size: 303 × 218 × 11 mm.

Size of leaf: 298 × 206 mm.

On [a1r] a six-line German initial ‘A' is supplied in green on a chequered maroon ground, with acanthus scrolling in light green edged in yellow, and with extensions into the inner margin in green and red. Other initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red; capital strokes and underlining in red.

Provenance: Possibly George John, 2nd Earl Spencer (1758-1834); his anonymous duplicate sale, 20 Dec. 1798, lot 90. Purchased by Francis Douce for £0. 15. 6, according to annotation in Douce's copy of the catalogue, marked ‘D.' Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate. Bequeathed in 1834.
