On A1r a five-line initial ‘Q' is supplied in red, with long extension along the right margin and ‘Ihs' written in the body of the letter. Paragraph marks and capital strokes are supplied in red; marginal notes, extracting key words, are supplied in red ink; all in a contemporary hand. Each section is marked by red cloth index tabs.
