Binding: Contemporary German blind-tooled leather over wooden boards, with two metal catches. Triple fillets form a double intersecting frame; within the outer frame are repeated headed-outline tools. The inner rectangle contains merrythoughts, made up from headed-outline tools, each containing a fleuron stamp. Paper labels on the upper part of the spine, two with the numbers ‘75' and ‘N. 63.’

Marginal annotations, extracting key words, and adding pointing hands; underlining; all in an early hand.
Eight- to eleven-line initials are supplied in interlocked red and blue, some with red, blue, green, and gold infill, some with red and brown pen flourishing, others with no decoration. On p2v a nine-line initial is supplied in blue with reserved white decoration and green, red, and gold infill; on q5v a ten-line initial is supplied in blue with reserved white decoration and red pen flourishing. Two- to four-line initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue.
Provenance: Niederalteich, Bavaria, Benedictines, S. Mauritius; on the front pastedown an engraved armorial book-plate: a shield bearing a triple mount, inscribed above ‘Bibl: S. Mavritii', and dated 1622; see Warnecke 1458, Leiningen-Westerburg 39. Duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; ‘Duplum' on the front pastedown. Acquired between 1847 and c.1892, possibly in 1850; not in Catalogus (1843) with Appendix.
