Binding: Contemporary blind-tooled calf over wooden boards. Triple fillets form an intersecting frame; diagonal triple fillets divide an inner rectangle into lozenge-shaped and triangular compartments. Catches and clasps lost.

Size of leaf: 293 × 210 mm.

Early marginal annotations, extracting key words, on q1r; on a1v post-1792 notes relating to the history of the text and that of the book. On the upper left corner ‘KK', probably in the same hand.

Paragraph marks are supplied in red; underlining of chapter headings and capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Maaseik, Limbourg, Augustinian Canonesses; inscription on a8v and [con]7v: ‘Pertinet Conuentui sororum regularissarum Ad sanctam Agnetam in oppido Maeseycken[nensi]'. Wanting the blank leaves a1 and I6.

Binding: Contemporary blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, rebacked. Triple fillets form an intersecting double frame. Outside the frame stamps bearing ‘S. Brigitta' on a scroll; within the outer frame, square stamps with the symbols and names of the Evangelists in the four corners (clockwise from the top, John, Mark, Luke, and Matthew), and triangular stamps representing a man in a tunic wearing a cap of maintenance, holding a club and an escutcheon charged with a cross; see Weale lxi. The inner rectangle is divided by diagonal triple fillets into triangular compartments (each with a triangular foliate stamp) and lozenge-shaped compartments with a rosette, a circular lamb-and-flag stamp, an eagle, or a fleur-de-lis, each stamp surrounded by four small circular star stamps; at the intersection of the fillets, a lozenge-shaped stamp with fleur-de-lis or a circular floral stamp.

Some of the running chapter headings added in an early hand.

On a1r and b2r two- and seven-line initials are supplied in red and blue with violet pen-work decoration extending along the margin. Other initials are supplied in red, some with reserved white decoration; paragraph marks and underlining of chapter headings in red, capitals touched with yellow wash.
