Copious marginal notes in several English hands from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. On a1v cropped notes on the sacrament and transubstantiation. Early foliation, cropped towards the end of the item. On o3r 20 lines of verse in Latin, entitled ‘Liber bonus primus versus', with the incipit: ‘Nemo potest dominis recte seruire duobus . . .'; also a cropped table of contents providing folio references to the text. On o3v Latin proverbs, signed ‘per me Antonium Pattensonum de Bennethede', and partly repeated on o2v with the incipit: ‘Qui bene vult legere debet ante legendo videre nam legitur melius lectio visa prius lector inhoatus . . .', also 4 lines added in a different hand, ‘Lapis iacet montem tolle caput et volabit' (repeated); ‘Si vis interpretare quid sit philosophia: meditatio mortis'; and a ‘Sator Arepo' square.
