Binding: Nineteenth-century (1840s) French brown blind-tooled morocco; marbled pastedowns, gilt-edged leaves, and gold-tooled turn-ins.

Size: 252 × 184 × 21 mm.

Size of leaf: 244 × 169 mm.

Woodcuts coloured in red, yellow, blue, and green, now almost invisible because the leaves have been washed.

Provenance: Davis & Orioli, Catalogue 141 (1951), no. 57, offered at £120; a cutting now extracted established that this copy was the one offered for sale by Davis & Orioli. Theodore Deodatus Nathaniel Besterman (1904-1976). Purchased in July 1979 for £866; see ledger (1978/9), no. 1060.
