Early manuscript title on [a1r].

On [a2r] a five-line initial ‘B' is supplied in blue within a red pen-work ground; the body of the letter in red pen-work, with extensions into the inner margin. On [a4r] a five-line initial ‘D' is supplied in blue within a red pen-work ground; the body of the letter in red pen-work and in green, with extensions into the margins in red and green. Other one- to five-line initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red; capital strokes and underlining in red.

Wanting leaves [d10], [e1], [h7], and [l3], also the blank leaves [a1] and [t10].

Sheets [d5.6] and [g1.8] are of a different setting, with type 200 G used in the headings instead of 168.

Binding: Nineteenth-century English blind-tooled calf (c.1825); bound for the Bodleian Library; gold-tooled spine; the gold stamp of the Library on both covers.

Size: 302 × 211 × 29 mm.

Size of leaf: 290 × 191 mm.

Occasional early marginal annotations, including biblical references. Signatures are supplied in black ink in a fifteenth/sixteenth-century hand.

Some one- and two-line initials are supplied in black ink, also guide-letters.

Provenance: ‘Purchased at Hamburgh 1825' on [a2r]; not found in Books Purchased (1825).
