Binding: Contemporary calf over wooden boards, with metal corner-pieces and remains of metal clasps. Manuscript title inset on upper cover: ‘pars hiemalis omeliarum'. On the spine, two square labels with manuscript title: ‘Precipuorum doctorum Homelie' and shelfmark: ‘7. C. 10'. Rebacked.

Size: 295 × 208 × 55 mm.

Size of leaf: 285 × 200 mm.

On [a1r] an eight-line initial is supplied in blue with reserved white decoration. Other initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue. Underlining of chapter headings and capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Heilissem, Brabant, Premonstratensians, S. Maria; inscription in the upper margin of [a1r]: ‘Monasterij Heyleschemensis'. Engelbert-Karl Arenberg, 10th Duke of Arenberg (1899-1974); oval paper label with running number ‘581' at the head of the spine. Purchased from Hans P. Kraus in 1965, list 195/26.

Bound in two volumes: (1) ‘Pars hiemalis'; (2) ‘Pars aestivalis et de sanctis'; not as BMC.

Binding: Contemporary English (Oxford) blind-tooled calf over wooden boards; re-backed; with remains of metal catches. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at the head of upper cover. Triple fillets form a quintuple frame. Within the outer frame, square stamps of a double-headed eagle within a circle; within the following frame, square unicorn stamps; within the following frame, circular stamps with the star of David, with a horizontal row of the double-headed eagle stamp above and below. Within the following frame, small circular dragon stamps. The inner rectangle has been covered by the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library. See Gibson, Oxford Bindings, no. 26, tools 72, 73, 74, 75. The binding is listed by Graham Pollard in his notes on Oxford bindings, Bodleian Library, MS. Pollard 326, fol. 35 (in 'Bindery VIII') and fol. 36 (in 'Bindery XIV').

Some marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, nota marks, and pointing hands in different early hands. Manuscript signatures partly visible. A strip of paper, cropped, has been pasted onto the front endleaf; it contains two lines of text in a contemporary(?) English hand.

On [a1r] and [A1r], and [L4v] initials are supplied in interlocked blue and red with red pen-work decoration extending into the margin. Other initials are supplied in blue; paragraph marks are supplied in red.

Provenance: Robert Abdy (†1483). Acquired by 1738; see Fysher, Catalogus, I 593, with shelfmark O 4. 7 Th.
