Binding: Eighteenth/nineteenth-century mottled calf; marbled pastedowns and gold-tooled spine with the title ‘Horae Parisiensis'.

Size: 148 × 100 × 15 mm.

Size of leaf: 139 × 91 mm.

Notes in French in a contemporary hand on a1v, a2r: ‘Ce present libure a este vacheue de limpression en lan iiiixx ix [i.e. 1499] et depuis jusque a present dernier du mois de juny mil[ ] . . . de mou[ ] a mil cinq . . . ans iiii mois v[ ] Ieanmarc natifs de Parisius'. On the front endleaf a sixteenth/seventeenth-century woodcut cut out and mounted, the head of Christ with the legend: ‘Speciosus forma præ filiis hominum psal. 44'. On the rear pastedown, a list of woodcuts in Douce's hand.

A few large woodcuts and borders painted. Two- to four-line initials are supplied in blue with white pen-work decoration, on a red ground with gold pen-work decoration. Other initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue. Capitals touched with yellow wash.

Provenance: Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate. Bequeathed in 1834.
