Binding: Eighteenth-century calf with gold-tooled spine, marbled pastedowns, and the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers.

Size: 280 × 202 × 27 mm.

Size of leaf: 269 × 190 mm.

Copious early marginal notes in one humanist hand, consisting of comments on the text and ‘nota' marks. Three leaves of contents in manuscript in the same hand have been added on the rear endleaves.

Partial rubrication in gatherings a and b only: paragraph marks and capital strokes are supplied in red.

Provenance: Rome, Biblioteca Corsiniana ‘nova'; stamp on a2r. Maffeo Pinelli (1735-1785); see Morelli (1787), II no. 2793; sale (1789), lot 7694; in the annotated catalogue no purchaser is named, but the lot is priced at £1. 1. 0.
