Binding: Seventeenth-century English (Oxford) blind-tooled calf over bevelled wooden boards. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at the tail of the upper cover. On both covers intersecting triple fillets form concentric frames. Within the inner frame is an ornamental roll: see Gibson, Oxford Bindings, pl. xxxviii, roll xii, ‘G. K.', and Oldham, Blind-stamped Bindings, pl. li, no. 857. Further triple fillets form the inner rectangle, in which is the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library.

Size: 220 × 149 × 63 mm.

Size of leaf: 205 × 133 mm.

Early marginal notes, consisting mainly of comments on the text. List of liturgical epistles and gospels, and partial manuscript index on the rear paper endleaves, all in fifteenth/sixteenth-century hands. Irregular early manuscript foliation: 1-243. Other miscellaneous notes, in prose and verse, on the parchment endleaves in English and Latin, in several fifteenth/sixteenth-century hands.

Provenance: [ ] Hollmandus (c.1500); name on the recto of the front parchment endleaf: ‘Hollmandus'. Sir Richard Fermor (†1643). Presumably the copy mentioned in the Benefactors' Register I 69 as given in 1603 by Fermor; see also James, ‘Catalogus' (1602/3), fol. 98r.
