Wanting the blank leaf S8.

With the title-page of Prüss's edition of 8 Feb. 1499 prefixed (M‑139), and with two more woodcuts cut from a fifteenth-century(?) missal pasted on a1v and on the recto of the first blank leaf inserted between gatherings a and A.

Binding: Seventeenth-century blind-tooled (fillets only) calf, the spine gold-tooled, with red-edged leaves.

Size: 192 × 150 × 30 mm.

Size of leaf: 187 × 136 mm.

Copious marginal notes, mainly additions to the martyrology, in a contemporary German hand, with paragraph marks and corrections added in red by the rubricator.

Initials are supplied in red with reserved white decoration; paragraph marks, underlining of chapter headings, and capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate. Bequeathed in 1834.
