Binding: Nineteenth-century calf with blind-tooled fillets; red-edged leaves; bound for the Bodleian Library.

Size: 275 × 210 × 50 mm.

Size of leaf: 269 × 183 mm.

Occasional ‘nota' marks and pointing hands in an early hand. Also occasional marginal notes, extracting key words, in the rubricator's hand in red ink.

On [*2r] a five-line initial ‘A' is supplied in grey with white and brown pen-work decoration, on a square green ground with yellow pen-work decoration. On [a1r] an eight-line initial ‘D' is supplied in blue with white acanthus-leaf decoration and the area defined by the letter supplied in pink with yellow pen-work decoration; on the same leaf a six-line initial ‘H' is supplied in pink with white and maroon pen-work decoration; both initials are within a square green ground with grey, pink, and green floral and foliate extensions into the margins to form a border. Other initials, paragraph marks, and underlining of chapter headings are supplied in red; capital strokes in red.

Provenance: Inscription on [*2r]: ‘Iste liber est S. Michaelis Patroni in [ ]utz.' Freising, Cathedral Chapter; on front pastedown an engraved book-plate: the Virgin and Child on a crescent moon, lettered below ‘Insignia Capituli'; see Warnecke 559. Duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; ‘Inc. 7372' in brown ink and ‘103' in pencil on a slip of paper inserted in the book. Acquired between 1847 and c.1892, probably in 1850; not in Catalogus (1843) with Appendix.
