Binding: Contemporary German(?) quarter blind-tooled (small circular floral stamps) pigskin over wooden boards, with two metal catches and remains of clasps. Parchment index tabs dyed red or green and others in the shape of spherical knots, also dyed. Front and rear pastedowns consist of two leaves from a fourteenth-century German noted manuscript.
Size: 294 × 215 × 65 mm.
Size of leaf: 280 × 196 mm.
Occasional marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, in an early German hand. Note on Nider in Latin in a nineteenth/twentieth-century hand on a sheet pasted onto rear pastedown.
Initials, some with reserved white decoration, and paragraph marks supplied in red.
Provenance: Inscriptions, unread under ultraviolet light on a1r and a2r. Purchased in 1923 from McLeish, Catalogue 4, no. 8, for £15; see BQR 4,39 (1923), 66, and Annual Report of the Curators of the Bodleian Library, Oxford University Gazette, 20 Feb. 1924, 376.
