Binding: Contemporary German (Nuremberg, Kyriß workshop no. 120) blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, with five metal bosses on each cover; two clasps and catches, replacing earlier ones, the holes of which remain visible. On the upper cover intersecting triple fillets form a frame within which is a repeated lozenge-shaped stamp of a heart pierced by an arrow (Kyriß pl. 241, no. 8). Triple fillets form the inner rectangle which is divided, by two further sets of triple fillets forming a saltire cross, into triangular compartments decorated with a rosette stamp (Kyriß pl. 241, no. 6) and a fleuron. On the lower cover quadruple fillets form a rectangular compartment which is divided by three further sets of triple fillets into triangular compartments. One of the compartments of the spine is decorated with a smaller rosette stamp and two other now indistinguishable stamps; the spine has been painted over in white, and there are remains of several paper manuscript labels. At the head of the upper cover is a fifteenth-century manuscript label bearing the title of the work. Parchment index tabs.
