Binding: Contemporary quarter calf over wooden boards, much worn; remains of one leather clasp, the other and two catches lost. ‘451' in red ink on a small rectangular paper label at head of the upper cover, adjacent to the spine; for another of such labels see S‑136.

Size: 305 × 207 × 30 mm.

Size of leaf: 294 × 202 mm.

Some marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, in a humanist hand; other marginal notes, extracting key words, pointing hands, and ‘diff[erenti]a' marks in a seventeenth-century hand. On the front endleaf, a poem in Italian, in a seventeenth-century hand: ‘Nel tuo magior furore | non m'accusare sig[nore] | ne ira di danno apreso | quando sei d'ira acceso'; 12 lines of verse dedicated to ‘All'Illustre et Cavaliere(?) Signor mio il Signor Francesco Maria Capitano(?) di Remini'.

Provenance: Giovanni C[re?]ssi[ ]tini, Frontin di Massa; inscription on p6v in a late sixteenth-century hand: ‘Questo libro è di mj No(?) Giovanni C[re?] ssi[ ]tini habitante a Frontin di Massa che perdendo detto libro ognuno che lo trovarra sia obligato alla restituzione perche è peccato a tenere la robba d'altri, et è contro il precetto di Dio che quando dice non deside<ra>re la robba d'altri quase si dice prendendolo.
