Binding: Contemporary German (unidentified, Kyriß workshop no. 152) blind-tooled pigskin over wooden boards, with metal clasp and catch. Blue-edged leaves. Quintuple fillets form a double frame. Within the outer frame a circular floral stamp. Diagonal quadruple fillets divide the inner rectangle into lozenge-shaped and triangular compartments, the former decorated with a lozenge-shaped eagle stamp, the latter with a small circular floral stamp; see Kyriß pl. 305, nos 2, 3, 5, 8. A rectangular parchment label with the manuscript title: ‘Marii Arpinatis Epistolae' is pasted at head of the upper cover; the same manuscript title at head of the spine. ‘353' on a rectangular paper label at middle of the spine.

Size: 224 × 162 × 40 mm.

Size of leaf: 218 × 148 mm.

‘Frater [ ]' erased early inscription in the lower margin of a3r. In the same hand marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, and underlining. ‘T. IV. 3.' in brown ink in the lower margin of u7v. ‘3828' in pencil on front endleaf.

Paragraph marks supplied in red.

Provenance: ‘Vitus Riel fon[ ]us Eberach(?)', with his device dated 1508. ‘Liber sancte Marie Virginis [ ] professum ibidem [ ]' in an early hand on the original pastedown, much damaged, removed and pasted onto present lining. Purchased from Caspar Haugg, Catalogue 78 (1885), no. 22, for 10 Marks; see Library Bills (1885), no. 381.
