Binding: Nineteenth-century mottled half calf over marbled paper boards, with the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers; azure-edged leaves previously coloured yellow; red silk bookmark.

Copious marginal notes, in brown and red ink, in Latin or Greek, extracting key words, authors's names, and small passages, in Nettucci's and other humanists' hands. Early manuscript foliation: 1-94 in red ink.

Paragraph marks are supplied in red.

Binding: Seventeenth/eighteenth-century(?) parchment, with old shelfmark ‘O IV' and manuscript title across the head of the spine.

Size of leaf: 225 × 169 mm.

The invoice from Murrays, Leicester, is pasted onto the front endleaf. Some marginal and interlinear notes, mainly providing corrections to the text, in Latin or Greek, and adding accents and breathing to the Greek text. Manuscript foliation: 1-92, in the same hand.

Provenance: Siena, un identified monastery dedicated to S. Maria; erased inscription on a1r in a seventeenth-century hand: ‘Pertinet ad Conuentum S. Marie [ ]ensis Senensis(?)'. Circular stamp, largely unread: ‘ . . . M. D. I. P . . . R. B . . .' Ingram Bywater (1840-1914); purchased by Bywater in 1908 from Murray, Catalogue 49, no. 109, for £4. 4. 0; Elenchus, no. 2645. Bequeathed in 1914.
