Α1v Decadyus, Justinus: [Letter addressed to] Greeks living in mainland Greece. Incipit: ‘ Ἀλλοι μὲν ἄλλα τω̂ν παρ ’ Ἕλλησι σοφω̂ν τε καὶ διδασκάλων συγγράμματα  . . . ‘

Α3r Ψαλτήριον [Ps 1-151, Greek.] ‘ Ψαλμός τῳ̂ Δαυὶδ ἀνεπίγραφος παρ ’ Ἑβραίοις .’ ‘ Δαυὶδ προφήτου καὶ βασιλέως μέλος ’.

υ8r [Verse.] Incipit: ‘ Δαυὶδ μελῳδε μουσικη̂ς ἀποκρύφου ; Σὺ μὲν δὲ αὐτω̂ν καὶ θανών ζη̂ς τω̂ν λόγων ‘; 15 lines in iambic trimeters. A liturgical psalter with canticles, having the psalms divided into καθίσματα and δόξαι .

Binding: Nineteenth-century gold-tooled (fillet only) blue morocco, with the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers; from the style of the binding, bound for the Library in London shortly after 1 Dec. 1789 (note to the binder on the recto of the front endleaf, now covered with marbled paper, but visible from the reverse, ‘Blue turkey'); gilt-edged leaves, marbled pastedowns, and pink silk bookmark.

Size: 213 × 155 × 28 mm.

Size of leaf: 203 × 136 mm.

A few marginal notes, extracting key words in Latin, in an early humanist hand, brown ink. ‘25 | Soli deo honor & gloria' on Α1r in Ireland's hand.

Provenance: William Ireland (†1570/1); inscription on Α1r: ‘William Irland'. Acquired by 1674; see Hyde, Catalogus (1674), II 82 (4o P 28 Th.); the volume no longer contains the old shelfmark, which was presumably on an endleaf lost in rebinding.
