Size of leaf: 215 × 150 mm.

A marginal note, translating the text into German, in an early hand on o4r. On the front leaf, in the upper right-hand margin ‘12h(?)' in brown ink in an early hand. On the same leaf, the hand that added the ownership notes has also copied bibliographical references from Panzer, Annal. typogr., Gras, Typogr. Denkmäl, Zopf, Augsburg Buchdr. Gesch., and Panzer, Aelteste Augsburg Bibel.. ‘£ 1.30' apparently in Winckler's hand.

The woodcuts are coloured.

Binding: Nineteenth-century old blind-tooled (fillets only) calf over bevelled wooden boards, with one metal catch and clasp and remains of another. Red-edged leaves.

Size: 190 × 152 × 38 mm.

Size of leaf: 187 × 145 mm.

At the beginning, 14 leaves containing the text of hymns in a sixteenth-century (after 1589) German hand, Cistercian. In the text, antiphons, corrections, and Cistercian punctuation have been added in the same and similar hands. At the end, 66 leaves in the same and similar sixteenth-century hands, containing the offices, including the office of the dead, with musical notation. The use, as given by the office of the dead, is Cistercian, as is the punctuation. Seventeenth-century obits in the calendar: 21 Feb. ‘Catarina Dornh(?) 1666', 11 June ‘Anno 1668 Balter Keller requiescat in pace', 14 July ‘Anna Maria Weing[/h]arden 1665', 16 Aug. ‘Profess gethan Bernarda Hildega[r]dis 1665' listed in the 1663-c.1672 inventory of nuns from Kirchheim (A. Burckhhausen'. Brother Matthias Harnig (fl. 1589), from Helena Schüssler[ ], Prioress of Kirchheim; inscription on [*1r]: ‘Fr. Matthias Harnig [/Haernig] seiner hertz lieben und geistlichen schwestern Helenae Schüssler[ ] priorin zu Kirchhei[m] Anno 1589'. Kirchheim, Bavaria, Cistercian Nuns, BVM; see inscriptions above. Inscription on front endleaf in a seventeenth/eighteenth-century hand in brown ink: ‘Sor Mariae Lutgardis gehörig'. Eighteenth-century inscription on front pastedown in pencil: ‘Sor Maria Gertrudis Dre(?)'. John Mozley Stark; ticket on the front pastedown. Sheppard states that this book was purchased in 1860, but it cannot be identified in Books Purchased (1860).
