Wanting a1 and a8. Leaf a2 repaired, the renovation of the lower margin affecting the last line of the text; minor repairs to a3.

Binding: Nineteenth-century orange-brown crushed morocco with brown central lozenge inlay and gilt-edged leaves.

Size: 210 × 133 × 9 mm.

Size of leaf: 207 × 129 mm.

On a2r Italian two-quarter white vine-stem borders on a blue, red, and green ground incorporating a three-line epigraphic initial ‘L' painted in gold. Other initials are supplied in red or blue.

Provenance: Thomas A. Gilbert (†before 20 Oct. 1923); pencil note inside front cover: ‘Hodgson 20 Oct 38 T A Gilbert Sale'; his sale (London: Hodgson & Co., 20 Oct. 1938), lot 572 (including also H 8343 and another volume not specified). Purchased by Pottesman. Solomon Pottesman (1904-1978); purchased at his sale, lot 340 for £240 + 24 + 24, from the Roy V. Sowers Fund; see ledger (1979/80), no. 441.
