Some marginal notes, mainly correcting and supplementing the text, in the sixteenth-century Italian hand identified below.

On a1r a five-line initial ‘E' is supplied in blue. A few other initials are supplied in brown ink with foliate pen-work decoration by the sixteenth-century hand that annotated the book.

Provenance: Italy, 1512; ‘M.D.XII' on the upper margin of g2r in the same Italian hand that made sums on c4v and wrote: ‘Carissimo hauendo la illustrissima signoria(?) di Venetia mand[at]o ad intimare [ ] alla illustrissima signoria di Genua de pagarle alla mea com. di Milano(?) per el reddito quale fano ogni anno alla reg. et duc[ale?] camera, et fisco'; on the same leaf, the drawing of a coat of arms, possibly with the initials ‘CI'. William Maskell (1814?–1900); signature and bibliographical note on verso of the front endleaf, in brown ink; his sale (19 May 1854), lot 1018.
