A few marginal notes in an early sixteenth-century north European hand, mainly extracting key words and providing underlining. ‘67' in pencil on front pastedown; ‘£1. 11. 6 | 1490' in pencil on recto of front endleaf.

An initial ‘G' is supplied in red on A1r. Initials supplied in red in the table.

Provenance: Anonymous sale (London: Sotheby's, 9 Feb. 1837), lot 299, see R‑116(2); the number ‘29' on a label at the tail of the spine; one of the items listed in Books Purchased (1837), 33, referred to as ‘fol. Arg. Jo. Gallensis, 1490', is probably this copy.

Binding: Contemporary German (Regensberg, Kyriß workshop 44) blind-tooled quarter calf over oak boards; clasp intact. On the upper cover: three vertical sets of triple fillets form two compartments; that on the left is filled with a repeated ‘Maria Hilf' scroll (Kyriß pl. 91, no. 2) flanked by two stars; the right-hand compartment contains a repeated fleuron; at the head of this compartment the date ‘1490' is stamped in a small frame (Kyriß pl. 91, no. 3). On the lower cover: triple fillets form four rectangular compartments, each divided by diagonal triple fillets into four triangular compartments; a rosette stamp at each point of intersection (Kyriß pl. 91, no. 1); in the compartments a different fleuron stamp. The title in a sixteenth-century hand on a leather label at the head of the spine; the shelfmark ‘E | XXX III' on a leather label at the tail of the spine.

Some marginal notes in a contemporary German hand, supplying pointing hands, ‘nota' signs, and repeating key points.

Emmerami Ratisbonae' on [first sheet]; probably part of the collection of Erasmus Daum (Dawm), sub-prior (d.1504); see Wagner, 'St Emmeram', 201, no. M15. Georg Franz Burkhard Kloß (1787-1854); book-plate; sale (1835), lot 1757 or 1758; Ernst Philip Goldschmidt (1887-1954); initials in gilt on a leather label on front pastedown. Albert Ehrman (1890-1969); armorial book-plate; purchased from Goldschmidt in 1967 for £250; accession no. ‘R 2175'. Presented in 1978 by John Ehrman.
